Furthermore, she is the Coordinator of the Privacy and Conflict Resolution Course at Future Law, and also holds the position of Coordinator of the Regulating Innovation Column at Jota, leading analyses on legal recommendations for technological innovation.

How would you rate the progress made in privacy and data protection over the past five years?
The relationship between the data subject, controller, and processor is much clearer now, where the method of collection, the form of processing, the limits, and the manner of disposal of personal data provided or obtained need to be predefined and communicated to the data subject.
With the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), data subjects have more control and information about the use of their data, bringing security to the data subject and credibility to the services of controllers and processors.
What have been the main impacts of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) over the last five years since its implementation?
The main impact is on the security of the processing of personal data of data subjects, since the sale of databases in "parallel" markets was becoming a very significant threat to the security of data subjects. This meant that data was being obtained in security incidents that were not reported by the data controllers.
It is important to highlight the impact that the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) brings to the relationship between data subjects and those responsible for data processing, as well as strengthening the digital security of children and adolescents.
What technological advancements or emerging trends do you believe could significantly influence the implementation and ongoing compliance with the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) in the coming years?
The use of artificial intelligence-powered systems in the processing of personal data is the main technological advancement that needs to comply with the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law), and the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) is monitoring this trend. Open finance and DREX (digital real) also need to comply with the LGPD, as they are technologies that process databases on a large scale and volume.
From your perspective, what are the future expectations for the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law), considering possible changes, regulatory improvements, and developments in the field of digital privacy?
From my perspective, the future of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) will depend on its adaptability in regulating the emerging technology market, meeting demands that were unthinkable during its enactment. To this end, the ANPD's (National Data Protection Authority) actions will be fundamental in keeping the LGPD updated. Likewise, it will demonstrate its regulatory power through the application of sanctions, which, because they are publicly disseminated, have a much greater impact than just the financial one.
Significant progress in privacy and data protection has been observed in the last five years, especially with the entry into force of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law). Greater transparency, security for data subjects, and more effective regulation have resulted from this.
The ANPD will ensure that the LGPD evolves as it adapts to technological changes, playing a key role in the ongoing regulation and enforcement of the law.
