One of the most commonly used words today when the subject is related to communication is undoubtedly "fake news," an English expression that literally means "false news." 

On the internet, it only takes one click for a message to go viral and reach enormous proportions. Through misleading information, people can access links where their personal data may be exposed, resulting in scams and fraud. 

Since 2020, Bill 2630 has been debated in the National Congress, seeking a solution to the problem of the proliferation of false information, with the purpose of preventing the dissemination of what is considered false or offensive. 

Parliamentarians faced a significant challenge in arriving at a set of rules capable of distinguishing this form of oversight from censorship. Despite this, some points need clarification in order to avoid even greater risks. 

Without a proper explanation of the intentions behind Bill 2630, what could happen?

Firstly, current legal conditions will require companies to disclose everything related to the operation of their internal systems, digitized files, and other resources. 

However, many organizations are concerned about the measure because, while it establishes a link of transparency through the participation of public bodies, it increases the chance of hackers gaining access to servers and security codes. 

The digital services company Google has positioned itself by considering the current proposals negative for all businesses in the country. According to the company's managers, certain generalizations have the potential to compromise the flow of online information, harming everyone. 

In addition to creating a layer of vulnerability in businesses by requiring them to open their registrations, it increases the cost of several processes by making management more bureaucratic. 

And it doesn't stop there; entrepreneurs from various sectors, but especially from the area of ​​communication and social media, will have to deal with a much more restrictive space. 

Among the barriers imposed in the fight against fake news, charging for publication, automating the deletion of accounts on social networks, or even making it easier to report fake news are very delicate issues, reducing access to knowledge and potentially penalizing innocent people.

Therefore, we reiterate here the importance of making the internet safer by verifying the sources of advertisers while still maintaining the accessibility of their tools.
