Summary

Leaks of information, especially confidential data, can compromise people's physical, emotional, and financial security. Therefore, people are seeking more transparent brands.

During the pandemic, the search for greater convenience resulted in a growth in online sales. Therefore, the use of registration data began to be requested frequently.

Names, phone numbers, bank account details, and other documents were exchanged, and recognizing the need for confidentiality, Germany was the first country to create privacy legislation. Soon after, Europe and the US signed an agreement, the Privacy Shield, establishing rules for the use of data between their servers.

Data protection did not originate with the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law).

In Brazil, the 1988 Constitution already guaranteed this right, but in a broad way, defining the limits of private life and the possibility of obtaining legal support if the inappropriate use of personal content was proven.

Two years later, the Consumer Protection Code became the set of laws that protect consumer rights. This initiative aims to establish a fair relationship between those who buy and those who offer a good or service, clarifying the consequences of an exchange.

The area of data protection is closely linked to this objective, as it formalizes a consensus in which the consumer is aware of all the details of the sale, and in this case, how their information will be stored and used. In the virtual environment, the sharing of any element is amplified, and hackers are everywhere trying to commit fraud.

Therefore, creating barriers against these attacks became extremely important, and in 2018, the Regulatory Framework emerged in Brazil as a measure to combat the misuse of the internet.

In 2020, the General Data Protection Law came into effect, and with the efforts of the National Data Protection Agency (ANPD), the country has been making progress by encouraging all entrepreneurs to comply with the regulations.

Consumers can demand protective measures.

Now Brazilians will have the opportunity to demand more responsibility from companies, more easily verifying the function of each piece of information provided. Therefore, effort on the part of organizations is indispensable in achieving a high standard of administrative quality.

By prioritizing the implementation of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) for corporations to be more competitive, 6 out of 10 people in the Brazilian consumer market are concerned about the handling of their data.

In an effort to avoid any type of fraud, everyone is paying closer attention to identification codes, terms of use, and potential data breaches. The secret to successful ventures is knowing how to adapt to legal changes, adhering to new management and ethical practices.
