In the early hours of the 23rd, the electronics giant Fast Shop suffered a hacker attack that resulted in criminals threatening to leak customers' personal data. As a precaution, the retailer took its website and app offline.
In addition to the website and app, the criminals gained access to the company's Twitter account, where they made the following posts:
"Hi FastShop ADMIN"
In the previous 72 hours Fastshop TI and CLOUD system have been undergoing an extortion attack
We have gained access to some TB's of your data from VCenter and various cloud services, AWS, AZURE, IBM, GITLAB”.
— Fast Shop (@fastshop) June 23, 2022
The attack was focused on extortion.
In the tweet, the criminals mention having gained access to vCenter and services such as AWS, Azure, IBM, and GitLab, and in subsequent tweets they also mentioned having access to the data of several users and partners, demanding payment, which was to be negotiated through the Telegram app.
“The data includes source codes | PCI DATA | Various user and corporate data.
We are happy to negotiate with you to prevent the leakage of this data | and to help resolve the issues.
We advise you to contact our telegram @nwgenceo https://t.co/QAGE1q4eXP”.

In a statement released via its official Twitter account, the company explained: "Fast Shop informs that it identified an attempt at unauthorized access to the company's systems. As a preventative measure, the company activated its security protocols, and for this reason, the website and app were temporarily unavailable, but they have now been restored and are functioning normally. We emphasize that all stores remain open and operating regularly throughout the country. We stress that all of the company's information is under strict security processes and there was no evidence of damage to our customers' data."
A survey conducted by Kroll, titled Threat Landscape Report, showed that in the first quarter of this year, there was a 54% increase in phishing attacks.
This shows that companies need to find ways to stay one step ahead of these increasingly sophisticated cybercriminals, in addition to the fact that the market for extortion via cyberattacks tends to grow if there is a breach on the part of companies. In other words, every precaution is necessary.
