Maybe I'm being influenced by this Father's Day atmosphere, but every now and then I remember Sundays after lunch when I'd see my dad sitting in the living room armchair, watching those action movies where robots tried to take over the world.
And I could come here and pretend that this subject already excited me, that even back then my dream was to work with data protection and study artificial intelligence. However, the truth is that this subject has always generated great discomfort and a multitude of questions for me.

Could robots really take over the world?
As I grew older and the hustle and bustle of daily life meant I no longer watched as many movies with my father, my doubts about the use of artificial intelligence also changed:
"Why did I fail to get this job? What criteria did this AI use to discard my resume without even knowing me?"
Today, I approach this type of question with a bit more comfort: I now know that companies are responsible for a good portion of these answers. According to article 20, § 1 of the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law), it is the Controller's obligation to provide clear and adequate information regarding the criteria and procedures used for automated decisions.
From the perspective of someone who has finally fallen in love with the subject and who, in the current context, operates on the other side of this relationship, I always try to instruct companies on the importance not only of complying with the law, but of taking advantage of this loophole to build a genuine relationship of trust with their client.
The ANPD itself regularly seeks to be present at events, strategic meetings, and moments of dialogue about the different aspects of the impact of the great evolution of AI. At the beginning of this year, we already had a clear position: according to Waldemar Gonçalves, our Data Protection Authority will not wait for the legal framework for artificial intelligence to begin regulating this topic.
All of this is because, although exciting and inspiring, artificial intelligence continues to face a challenging journey. And, for companies that want to follow this path more safely, the best way is to partner with a system like ours, which can manage all the use of artificial intelligence within a corporation.
Our module of AI Governance It's the perfect solution to help register, categorize, and monitor AI operations, offering a clear view of the associated risks and ensuring your practices comply with key global laws and regulations. This type of control allows you to organize yourself and be prepared for upcoming regulations.
I still don't know if robots can, someday or in some parallel reality, dominate the world, but I am absolutely certain that managing the use of artificial intelligence not only helps with compliance, but also generates trust and loyalty in interpersonal relationships.
Finally, I'd like to extend my invitations: to you, business owner, get in touch and learn about our AI governance module! And to my dad: shall we go see a robot movie this Sunday?
