RCI Bank Brazil implements LGPD-compliant system with Privacy Tools.

To protect customer privacy, Banco RCI Brasil's initiative seeks to adapt its business to the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

With the LGPD (General Data Protection Law) coming into effect in September 2020, all companies began to prioritize adaptation projects to protect the privacy and data of their clients, users, and consumers, including through compliance tools.

But not every company left it to the last minute; many had already been working towards this for quite some time and today possess the most advanced mechanisms, controls, and systems geared towards compliance with the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law), guaranteeing the best privacy practices for clients, employees, and suppliers: We are talking about Banco RCI Brasil and other companies in the RCI Group.

It was in the mid-20s, when the legendary Louis Renault founded DIAC – Diffusion Industrielle et Automobile par le Crédit – that the RCI Group's global history began. This made consumer credit possible, even though, to many French people, it seemed like a distant American fad. DIAC would later become RCI Banque.

RCI Bank and Services is the financial arm of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance worldwide and has a presence in 36 countries.

The bank's objective is to contribute to the growth of the group's brands in more than 36 countries and five continents. In Brazil, the group operates through Banco RCI Brasil (which provides investment and financing solutions for the Renault and Nissan brands), Administradora de Consórcio RCI Brasil (Renault and Nissan Consortiums), RCI Brasil Insurance Broker, and RCI Brasil Serviços e Participações (which includes the Group's subscription vehicle leasing service).

The project to comply with the LGPD (Brazilian General Data Protection Law) began in 2018 and involved hiring a specialized consulting firm, creating internal squads, providing training, and defining the DPO (Data Protection Officer), that is, the person responsible for processing personal data for the Group. Choosing a tool for LGPD compliance is a fundamental step, as it is through this tool that the privacy program will be better managed by those responsible.

In the case of Grupo RCI Brasil, the platform that best met their needs was Privacy Tools, a Brazilian company that already serves large companies in compliance projects. The Privacy Tools platform provides the Group with tools for cookie management, a data subject service portal, privacy in applications, data mapping, consent management, and integration with various software, including Salesforce and other systems, to minimize manual work.

According to Maick Dias, DPO of the RCI Brazil Group, regarding the choice of Privacy Tools: “We chose a national company that had a lot of flexibility for customizations and that could give us differentiated service in building the best compliance model for the privacy issue. There are many companies in the group, each with its own managers and specific needs; we needed a partner, not just a supplier.”

With a large B2B2C business volume, the Group provides services and financing for new and used vehicles to customers and the Renault and Nissan dealership network. Furthermore, through its digital bank, Banco RCI Brasil offers attractive CDB investment options to everyone.

The Bank is still responsible for financing more than a third of Renault and Nissan's sales to end consumers, making it one of the most active and representative automaker finance companies in the world.

It began its operational activities in June 2000 and is the absolute leader among all banks that finance new Renault and Nissan vehicles in Brazil.
