WhatsApp has been investing in regaining its credibility and customer trust regarding data security for some time now. And this commitment from Meta has been reflected in actions that facilitate privacy-related issues.
According to the website WABetaInfo, which specializes in reporting on app updates, version 2.22.22.5 of WhatsApp Beta Now it provides a shortcut to privacy options in a direct way: on the main screen of the settings page, unlike before when the "privacy" section was inside the "account" section.
In addition to making it easier for the user to access their options privacy settingsThere, you will be able to adjust settings ranging from who can see your status to privacy settings for "last seen" and your blocked list. It is also in this section that you will be able to set the option to hide your "online" status.
The duration of temporary messages, biometric authentication for blocking access to the application, and adjustment of the duration of temporary messages will also be available in this menu.
However, like any tool in beta testing, we'll have to wait to find out when the new feature will be released to the public.
The option to edit a message that has already been sent is also reportedly being tested by the app.
According to WABetaInfo, another feature being tested is the option to edit texts even after they have been sent. This function will allow for grammatical correction, or other types of correction, without the need to delete the message and rewrite it, as has been the case until now.
WhatsApp has not yet announced whether there will be a history feature allowing users to see the changes made, as is the case in some other apps, and the expectation is that both the announcement and the start of the implementation of the new features should take place later this year.
The "hide from everyone" option is now available in the messenger.
And finally, the long-awaited feature that was previously in beta testing has finally arrived in the stable version of the messenger: the option to... hide online status.
In practice, this option will be associated with the settings established for "last seen," varying according to the user's preference, thus making it possible for the online option to be seen by everyone, by a select group of people, or even by no one.
To adjust the "online" status settings, simply:
1. Go to: Settings > Accounts > Privacy > Last Seen and Online;
2. Adjust who can see your "last seen" status;
3. And finally, adjust who can see when you are online: “Everyone” or “Even if 'last seen'.”
The option, which has already begun to be rolled out among the apps, is being released gradually, and it may take a few days before everyone can use the feature.
